Helping churches working together
100th Anniversary.Home.About Us.Ecumenism.Denominations.Events.Resources.Contact us.
On behalf of the churches within Churches Together in Nottinghamshire we acknowledge with thankfulness -

·
our common faith in one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
·
our common calling to serve in God’s mission;
·
the diversity of our traditions and the different gifts each brings to our common life.

We believe we are called to deepen our life together in Christ, and to seek to offer to the world a united witness and a shared service.

Therefore, as fellow pilgrims in faith, we commit ourselves to work together -
·
in proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God and nurturing new believers;
·
in expressing the love of God through common service;
·
in resisting and seeking to transform all that threatens or subverts the values of the Kingdom;
·
in promoting justice, peace and reconciliation;
·
in celebrating and preserving the integrity of creation so that this and future generations can enjoy and share its blessings;
·
in finding other partners with whom we can work.

We believe that this commitment can be expressed in a variety of ways, and in particular through the life and work of Churches Together in Nottinghamshire.

We pray that God will lead us, with all our sisters and brothers in Christ, so that we may
·
witness to the uniting love of God and
·
grow towards that full visible expression of unity which is God’s will.

We make this covenant together on behalf of our churches and congregations, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

(Signed by appropriate church leaders, denominational and congregational representatives within Nottinghamshire)

In 2003 representatives of many churches and traditions came together in the annual Two Counties’ Service

(held that year in Mickleover, Derby)

to affirm a Churches’ Covenant, expressing the commitment many of us wish to make to each other as fellow Christians, as Pilgrims Together.

We remind ourselves of this commitment each year at our Two Counties’ Service.

If you do not have such a covenant locally, you might consider adopting this as a basis for your local relationships and shared mission.
